Turning off the AC to Save Energy

I enjoy the convenience of living in the inner city.

Everything that I need is right around the corner. I grew up as a country bumpkin. My friend and I lived so far out of neighborhood that it took almost an hour just to get to the grocery store. My friend and I took shopping trips every six months to buy clothes or other non-grocery items. As a child, I didn’t mind living so far out of town, but now that I have a family plus an outside task, I am really ecstatic that I don’t live so far out of the city. Our greatest challenge about living in the town is the cost. Where my friend and I live, housing is simply outrageous, plus my friend and I are typically looking for ways to save money. Something that has saved us a lot of money is simply turning off the a/c when my friend and I leave the house. My partner plus I both work outside the home, plus all of our children are in college, so there is no need to have the a/c running all day long when no one is home. My friend and I also started turning off the a/c at night while are sleeping, plus instead my friend and I just open the windows to stay cool. These two things have saved us more money than my friend and I ever thought they would. Now, my friend and I only use our a/c in the evenings plus on the weekends. Although a/c is certainly a blessing to have, it isn’t necessary to have it on 24/7. Saving money isn’t straight-forward, but straight-forward things like this can make a large difference.
