I knew that when the heater stopped working on the coldest day of the year, we were going to be in for a headache when it came to repairing it.
Everyone knows that a heating system that stops working is not a good sign.
Out HVAC was only 3 years old, and I knew that we had a warranty. I went into the kitchen and started looking for the papers. I usually threw them into a drawer in hope that I could find the warranty information before I phoned the HVAC company. I was really hoping that something like this would be covered, but I couldn’t recall that it was. I finally found it in a desk drawer. I called the 800 number on the back of the packet. I was asked for a model number and my warentay number. As all of this was happening, I could feel the temperature of the house being the drop. This was supposed to be one of the coldest nights of the year and I was beginning to worry. Would we freeze to death? Probably not, but, we did not have any wood for the wood burning fireplace. I would have to remember to have my husband pick some up. Without the heater tonight, we would need to break out the electric space heater.
